Welcome All to the Classroom. I'm GX Exil3 and I'm here to teach Important Lessons in SE to hopefully improve your game. Every once in a while I'll be posting a new segment with the Subject and Lesson number. We first will be starting with Deck Building. So without any further ado, let's get started!!!
In our first Session of becoming O.P we will be start with the basics of Hero Choice and Syncs. Everyone knows that the very first thing you do to create a deck is to choose your hero. I won't spend too much time on this first lesson but here's what our first subject is:
● Style of play for your hero
One major factor in deck building is making sure that you are playing the right style for your hero. Let's get started on what Heroes are classified under what style.
Aggro: Aggro is the style of play where you are basing basically your whole entire deck with allies. Since you are basing your deck mainly on allies it's best to add at least 2 different cards that help with drawing, mainly items or abilities. Aggro is mainly used in Shadow Decks but has some choices in humans as well. Some great Heroes that go well with aggro would be Banebow, Ythan , Skervox, Elementalis, Praxix, Zaladar, Bloodfang, Raikka, and Rothem. Some other choices that could work would be Garth, Aramia, and Moonstalker.
Weapon: Weapon is the style of play that is mainly for becoming a dual Threat and for giving your opponent not 1 but 2 issues to deal with. Weapon decks are not at all aggro, usually they are semi solo or 50/50 ( weapons, items, abilities / allies). Weapon Heroes are usually your Human Heroes but there are a few with Shadow. Some great choices would be Amber, Gwen, Serena, Threbin, Baduruu, Logan, Darkclaw, Garth, and Rothem.
Control: Control decks are my personal favorite. They are the biggest hope of turning a game around and winning it. Their strategy is making the board clear of attacks. Control decks have the biggest variation of cards. They need a nice balance of items, abilities, and allies to be effective. Heroes that do very well with control are Boris, Lance, Victor, Garth, Zhanna, Jericho, Nishaven, Vess, Eladwen, Loest, Majiya, Ythan, Skervox, Banebow, Bloodfang, Zaladar, and Praxix. Second tier to those Heroes would be Weapon Heroes.
Rush/Surprise: Rush and surprise decks are usually for either finishing off an opponet quickly or a deck used for turning games around with no thought by the enemy. These decks can be very effective but also can be one of the most reckless. These decks are usually one-sided so their downfall is being easily countered. Some Heroes that sync well with this style would be Nishaven, Eladwen, Aramia, Loest, Gravebone, Zaladar, Aramia, Raikka, Rothem, Lance, Ythan, and Ter Adun.
Attachment: Attachment style is a very fun way to play personally. Their decks are usually 50/50 (abilities and attachments/allies). They are closely related to control but can be countered easily. So why choose attachments over control? Draw Power!!! These are the best way to keep your hand decently sized. They are also tier 2 to a more stall and surprise deck, so they are a bit of everything. Heroes best with it are Vess, Jericho, Victor, Zhanna and Boris. Some other decent options would be Elementalis, Bloodfang, and even some weapon Heroes.
Stealth/Protection: This style is specifically for protecting your allies. There can be alot of up game from using this style but at the same time it may take a toll on your Hero itself. They are usually killer competition to combat based decks but can fall short to ability decks. These decks aren't usually fast paced either and a lot of set up may be involved which can hurt your Hero early, but with the right strategy your allies could be your saving grace. Heroes that go well with this would be Tala, Moonstalker, Lance, and even Skervox.
Stall/Mill: Lastly is the most annoying decks on the planet. Stall and Mill decks are the ones that usually rely heavily on protecting their Hero so there's a lot of healing and stalling the game out to win. The style is to basically have the enemy run out of cards. These decks are very ability and item based with very few allies. The Heroes to use for this style would be Moonstalker, Skervox, Praxix, and Vess.
